While the Admirility Trilogy games are daunting and can seem impossible to learn at first, they are no more difficult than ASL. So I urge anyone to give them a try.
Fear God and Dread Nought covers the WW1 era ships and conflicts, and of course the legendary Dreadnoughts. The games can be played with miniatures or the counters that come with the game. Since you need few ships for most of the scenarios, miniatures will not be cost prohibitive.
The level of detail provided is overwhelming at first but addictive after a few plays. Once you have completed a few scenarios, you will begin to understand how Naval warfare was actually conducted and why. The scenarios range from small engagements all the way to massive conflicts like Jutland.
Also included is a set of Quick start rules to get you off and running within minutes.
