  • Baron's War

    Baron's War

The two major battles of Simon de Montfort - Lewes & Evesham - provide a new take on a rarely covered period of English History. These battles took place in a unique period, before the longbow had pained predominance of the battlefield, when cavalry was still the most lethal weapon in the English arsenal.

The system provides a unique simulation of 13th century warfare. With only 12 pages of rules plus commentary, the game plays fast (less than two hours) and furiously. Each player much preplan the orders for his Battles with the use of Command Points. The system has built-in limitations on leaders and troops, fog of war, and the chaos of the medieval battlefield. More importantly, it does this by employing a simple, elegant mechanic, allowing players to focus on the game and not struggle with the rulebook.

Rules and commentary, 280 counters / markers, two 17x 22 maps, player aids, and dice.

  • Mollwitz & Chotusitz: Battles of the First Silesian War

Mollwitz & Chotusitz: Battles of the First Silesian War

The latest installment of the BAR series, "Mollwitz & Chotusitz: Battles of the First Silesian War" contains the first two battles of Frederick the Great's career as he began to forge his legacy as the greatest general of his generation. But be aware, this is not the Prussian Army of the Seven Year's War!

At Mollwitz (April 10, 1741) King Frederick II has been outmaneuvered by FM Neipperg. The plodding Prussians must advance over snowy fields to assault the waiting Austrian infantry and escape the entrapment. The Austrian player, with superior cavalry, must use that cavalry to slow down or distract the Prussian infantry before they devastate their Austrian counterparts. Each side has their strengths (and weaknesses) and must seek to maximize them to their benefit before time runs out. And, there is always the possibility that Frederick will flee the battlefield...

At Chotusitz (May 17, 1743), the Austrian army under Prince Charles has again outmaneuvered Frederick and hopes to annihilate the isolated part of his army. The pressure is on as the Austrians must attack quickly before the bulk of the Prussian army arrive as reinforcements. This is a finely matched battle with the Austrians as the attackers!

Both battles are one map in size with less than the usual number of counters. Chotusitz is roughly the size of the BAR game of Lobositz whereas Mollwitz has only 2/3 of the counters of Chotusitz.

  • Operation Spark

    Operation Spark

The game system is a continuation of the award winning Black Sea Black Death - Aachen - Borodino 41 system. The game, with one 34x22 map, is set in a frozen peat bof, bordered by a frozen lake and a frozen river, is a slugging match. German fortified lines cut through the snow filled woods and encircle the worker's settlements and the critical Sinyabino Heights. The Red Army appears for the most part in regiment sized units of riflemen, artillery and heavy mortars, backed up by battalions of tanks (half of them light T-60s), skiers, marines, engineers, as well as by naval artillery, air power, and a few odd units like aerosans and observation ballons. The Germans have most of their units in infantry and artillery batalions, backed up by companies of Tiger and Pzkw.III tanks, deadly 88mm flak guns, and STUG IIIs. The Germans also field everything from a battalion of Spanish fascists to a railroad battery. They also field battalions of heavy artillery, nebelwerfers, and captured French coastal guns, as well as mountain troops, jaegers, the SS Polizei Division, and several overstrength independent regiments plus their Tiger tanks (here seen in their debut performance).
