    Summer Lightning

September 1st, 1939… Panzers roll across Germany’s border with Poland, intent on the subjugation of their neighbour. In front of the German soldiers lay thousands of square miles to conquer, under them eager tanks, and leading them the officers keen to let loose a new type of war…Lightning War… the Blitzkrieg.

Welcome to Summer Lightning: The Invasion of Poland 1939, an operational-level game by veteran designer, Brian Train. In Summer Lightning gamers control brigades, divisions, and even corps of German, Polish, Slovakian, and Russian units in a proven game system (Autumn Mist, Balkan Storm) that features an interactive sequence of play and near-diceless combat that both shows the historical German superiority in command and control and yet is flexible enough to allow players to explore many variations and options, so that the game can be as equal (or unequal) a contest as they want. Options include: variable Polish deployments; greater or lesser surprise and speed of mobilization; changed attitudes of the Soviet Union or neighbouring countries; French intervention; Plan Zachod (the Romanian Bridgehead Strategy); and even the possibility that the Blitzkrieg, so appealing in theory, fizzles out on the battlefield.

  • Tank on Tank

    Tank on Tank

June 6, 1944 - the Allies land in Normandy to liberate France from German rule. The liberation however, won’t be an easy road. From D-Day at Omaha Beach, through the battle for Normandy, the Allies will fight the Germans tooth and nail, bayonet and rifle, tank on tank. Tank on Tank is a new Peter Bogdasarian design. A smaller game that can be learned in less than five minutes and played during a lunch break, Tank on Tank depicts tactical ground combat in Europe in the latter years of World War II.

The scale? It doesn’t really matter in Tank on Tank, let’s just call it tactical. The units? Tank on Tank includes Shermans, Wolverines, Priests, Tigers, Mark IVs, as well as the infantry and anti-tank guns that fought alongside them. If you’ve been looking for a simple game to scratch that tactical itch, or something to introduce a young tactician to war gaming, Tank on Tank might be the answer.

    White Star Rising: Operation Cobra

White Star Rising: Operation Cobra is an expansion for the game White Star Rising in the Nations at War series. This expansion focuses on the events surrounding the Allied breakout from the Normandy beachhead over the course of a month in July-August 1944. White Star Rising: Operation Cobra adds the Canadians, the Free French, and the Free Polish to the Nations at War series in addition to new units for the Americans, British, and the Germans.

White Star Rising: Operation Cobra comes with nine stand-alone scenarios, focusing on events near Falaise as the Germans tried to escape the converging allied armies. Among the topics are the Polish stand on Mont Ormel Ridge and Canadian efforts to capture the village of St. Lambert-sur-Dives. White Star Rising: Operation Cobra also contains a five scenario linked campaign following the breakout of American armored units during Operation Cobra at the end of July 1944.

White Star Rising: Operation Cobra is not a stand-alone game, you will need White Star Rising to play it.
