Power Grid

The objective in Power Grid is to supply the most cities with the power they need. Plan out your grid and then compete with other players to purchase and build power plants for all the cities. Acquire different natural resources that power your specific power plants. Upgrade you plants to meet the power needs of your cities and to be more efficient.

2-6 players aged 12 and older. Average playing time is 90-120 minutes.

Power Grid is definitely in the top tier of "Euro-style" boardgames. The players assume the positions of authority at power companies who seek to outdo each other at powering urban centres in Europe and America. The game's mechanics are excellent. There are blocking movements on the board; there is an involved auction in each turn; and the phasing of player turns requires careful planning. If you buy this, look for the expansion boards which add some great replayability. The game is somewhat easy to learn but better for more experienced gamers overall.
